Our Gatherings

We believe that when the church — this full spectrum of messy, imperfect, ordinary people — gathers together, something great happens. We think that GOD isn’t a GOD who is far, but is found in relationship with each other. And so we commit ourselves to meeting together regularly, in different venues and for different reasons, with the intention of connecting more deeply with each other, with GOD, with our community and with the world.

We hope you’ll join us along the way.

Transformissional Communities are the most tangible expression of our Kingdom desire — people deeply committed to each other, to wrestling with what JESUS taught in order to become more like HIM, and to act on those teachings, so others can feel the impact of his Kingdom in and around them. We meet as large groups in various locations two to four times per month to focus on JESUS and HIS mission, and group members meet in smaller gatherings weekly to pursue spiritual formation and growth more intimately and with greater accountability.

At the end of the day, personal change — becoming more like JESUS — comes through community with GOD and with others. Small groups have been foundational at Mendham Hills for many years, and are designed for studying and applying scripture, building relationships, encouragement, support and prayer. Here, we’re encouraged to serve together in the church, the community, or even on short-term mission fields. The groups are made up of men and women, meet in homes and take place two to four times per month.

On Thursday mornings from 9:30a – 11:15a, women of all ages get together at Mendham Hills to study scripture together — not for the sake of knowledge alone, but because in knowing HIM we might be changed. As we learn more about HIM, we also learn more about each other and build supportive and encouraging relationships.

While prayer is definitely an integral part of these studies, there is another group that focuses on prayer alone — talking with GOD, communicating love and worship, developing relationships. We bring the specific concerns and requests of our people before HIM, pray for the communities we live in, the world, and our Kingdom impact in it.

The men of Mendham Hills pray together at 6a on Friday mornings. Like the women, they intercede for our church, the communities we live in, and the world GOD has entrusted to us. The group is always open to newcomers and usually wraps up at about 7:30a, but the atmosphere is relaxed so you can leave whenever you need to in order to get to work.

Kingdom living requires addressing specific issues–including forgiveness, bitterness, performance orientation, shame, anger, and fear–that get in the way of transformation. Redemption offers greater insight into GOD’s plan for real change along with practical tools for becoming all you were meant to be. A teaching on the topic for the week is followed by encouragement, support, and prayer in small groups. Each meeting is self contained so newcomers are always welcome. Monday nights at 7p (dinner at 6:30p).
